Introduction & Commitment

Everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, security, and equal access to the resources that support a healthy and fulfilling life. Unfortunately, many individuals and families face barriers that prevent them from obtaining healthcare, stable housing, legal assistance, financial support, and other essential community services. Our Advocacy & Community Care Program is dedicated to helping underprivileged and vulnerable individuals overcome these challenges through compassionate guidance, personalized support, and strong community partnerships. We believe that no one should have to navigate difficult circumstances alone.

By working closely with healthcare providers, legal professionals, social service agencies, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers, we connect people with the services they need while advocating for their rights and well-being. Whether responding to an immediate crisis or supporting someone on their journey toward long-term stability, our team is committed to delivering respectful, person-centered care that empowers individuals to build brighter, healthier, and more independent futures within their communities.

Key Program Interventions

• Healthcare Access & Wellness Support

Access to quality healthcare is essential for maintaining physical and mental well-being. We assist individuals in connecting with family physicians, medical specialists, mental health professionals, community clinics, and wellness programs while providing guidance on navigating healthcare systems and available services. Our goal is to ensure every individual receives timely, compassionate, and appropriate care regardless of their financial or social circumstances.

• Housing & Essential Community Services

Safe housing and reliable community support are fundamental to long-term stability. We help individuals and families access emergency shelters, affordable housing programs, food assistance, financial aid, transportation services, and other essential community resources. Through personalized case management and referrals, we work to reduce barriers and ensure individuals receive the practical support needed to achieve greater independence and security.

• Legal Advocacy & Resource Navigation

BenaMakenga supports refugees, newcomers, displaced individuals, and families rebuilding their lives. We also assist people facing financial, educational, employment, and settlement barriers.

What resettlement support do we provide?

We help newcomers navigate housing, initial orientation, community resources, referrals, and other practical needs that make settling and building a stable life in Canada easier.

How do we help families in need?

We provide dignity-focused assistance for families experiencing financial hardship, including support with food, winter clothing, transit, household essentials, and other urgent needs.

Do we offer education & job support?

Yes. Our programs include youth tutoring, language-learning support, résumé and interview preparation, employment readiness, credential guidance, and opportunities that help newcomers develop their skills.

Does BenaMakenga work internationally?

Yes. Alongside our work in Canada, BenaMakenga supports humanitarian initiatives for refugees, displaced families, and communities affected by displacement and crisis internationally.
